Value Chain Transition Fund: Bridging the decarbonization investment gap
Achieving our climate goals requires financial solutions as well as technical ones. One of the biggest challenges in producing low-carbon materials is uncertainty around who should cover the extra costs. As part of ACCSESS, PhD Candidate Anna Emanuelsson has developed the Value Chain Transition Fund (VCTF), a new model for financing industrial decarbonisation.
Instead of relying solely on government subsidies or carbon pricing, the VCTF connects investment directly to market demand, wherein consumers pay a premium for greener alternatives, which covers producers’ additional costs. This ensures a steady return on investment for industries, making the transition to cleaner production financially viable.
The EU-funded project ACCSESS is delighted to invite you to an open online event exploring how industry and policymakers can cooperate to achieve the goals of the European Clean Industrial Deal. The event will set the scene for a discussion on the management of captured CO₂, using Central Europe as a case study.
