Investigation sheds light on premature bearing failure in wind turbine
A failed generator bearing in a Trøndelag wind turbine was traced to a combination of uneven loading during operation and weaknesses in the steel used in its inner raceway.
Proposed method improves planning for offshore maintenance at floating wind farms
A new peer-reviewed paper – by researcher scientists from SINTEF Ocean, NTNU, Bureau Veritas, and the University of Rostock, supported by FME NorthWind – introduces a faster, reliable method to plan and simulate floater-to-floater operations.
Speakers will be Konstanze Kölle (EERA JP Wind sub-programme coordinator, NorthWind), Stephan Barth (Coordinator of EERA JP Wind, ForWind) and Gard Hopsdal Hansen (Director of NorthWind). The topic will be the creation of a European research programme for wind energy and the upcoming EU call HORIZON-CL5-2026-09-D3-03 (currently in draft form).
